Bio
Kailey Diggs, soprano, is an American artist based in New York City. This summer, she will originate the role of Wheelchair Agent in Michael Ching’s new opera, Overheard. Recent performances include Violetta in La traviata (2026), Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte (2026), and the title role in Handel’s Alcina (2024).
A bi-coastal performer, Kailey has performed on stages across both the West and East Coasts. Her concert appearances include Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, Poulenc’s Gloria and Rutter’s Magnificat. Most recently, she returned to her hometown of Sacramento, California, to present a recital with the Sacramento Community Concert Association.
Her artistry has been recognized with numerous awards, including first place in the California Capital Chapter NATS Competition and the Fresno State Art Song Festival, as well as second place in the Opera Modesto Competition. She also competed at the district level of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition in Nashville, Tennessee.
Passionate about new music, Kailey is a frequent interpreter of contemporary opera. She appeared as Estelle Rigault in Zachary Watkins’s No Exit (2024) and participated in Four Corners: Operation Opera, where she originated two new roles (2023). With a curiosity for bold repertoire and a collaborative spirit, she is dedicated to the development and performance of new works.
Kailey will receive an Artist Diploma in Opera Performance at Montclair State University (2027) and earned her Bachelor of Music, summa cum laude, in Vocal Performance from the University of the Pacific (2024).
